After reading a book, students will discuss it and then write about it in their reading notebook.
Since we are working on a non-fiction unit for ELA, students should be reading non-fiction books as much as possible. They should always have at least two books in their book baggie; one fiction and one non-fiction.
Poetry
Choral reading (reading together) is a way to build reading fluency and expression.
We have learned a bunch of poems already! Practice reading your poems aloud for your family.
